  Thomas purchased 80 acres of land on 10Dec1834 for $1.25/acre on certificate #3727, described as E-1/2, SW-1/4 sec24 Ts18 R3W in SUmter Co,Al. He also purchased on 25Dec1834, 80 acres on certificate #4982, described as W-1/2, SW 1/4, Sec24, Tss18, R3W at the same rate. He sold both of these tracts on 23Apr1836 to William Drummond. He purchased three other tracts for $1.25/acre. On 03Dec1835 he was issued certificate #9734 for 40+ acres described as NE 1/4, SW 1/4, Ts17, R3W. The other certificates were #9798 and 9799 described as NW 1/4, SE 1/4, Sec14, Ts17 R3W (40+ acres) and E 1/1, SE 1/4, Sec14, Ts17 R3W (80+ acres). Land patents were issued for these tracts on 15May1837.
